Love Budgeting How Much?
August 16, 2016
Today I got a really exciting email. Some pieces of news don’t require very many words to convey a critical message and I’m pleased to share the entirety of today’s brief message with you:
From: Kietzel, Morris
Message: “I am a Syrian I have a transfer of 33 million reply to rifaat89@…. for details now?”
That was it. The whole message. It's amazing how so few words can change a life!
It looks like as of today I can quit my day job and get to budgeting my newfound $33 million. Just to be 105% safe, I may wait a few days for the funds to land in my account but I figure in no time at all I’ll be able to settle into my life of ease and new money.
All kidding aside, I have honestly have had the thought “I hope I never have to NOT budget.” I love it that much if you can believe it. Even if/when I make tons of money I plan to still budget and keep my lifestyle modest. And then the extra thousands can go into practical things like investments and meaningful things like charitable giving. I know that this is easier said than done but I feel like my trajectory is the total right direction.
One of my favorite things about the money mentor Dave Ramsey is that being “crazy generous” is one of the motivating reasons he champions for getting out of debt and living wisely. I dig that. I don’t know about you, but I would like to one day be like our generous Syrian friend, sharing gobs of money generously with random strangers and friends.
Have a super day friends! And, Morris, if you’re reading this, THANK YOU!
